Those are now paid by advertising companies that buy space on their pages just as they have been doing in billboards and newspapers. What's more, it also makes it easy for us to post an ad, we no longer need to put cards in newsagent's windows when we can simply press a button and spread it for all our thousands of friends and their's.
However, if we let this situation keep going, some say we will become a full consumerist generation, being raised in this "if I want it, I have it" world. In addition, we've read a lot of concerns from parents who think that companies are taking advantage of the inocence of those who have now become the new principal customer.
Despite all of this reasoning, I think the situation hasn't changed that much, first there were magazines, then TV and now social media. Companies are just looking for the best platform to get into our lives. In the end, if we didn't have adverts, how would we know where to buy what we need?
